    About comparative studies

We make screening easy.

  1. You book it. Our physician orders it.

Schedule your 15-minute office visit online or over the phone, and complete your medical intake online. Our physician writes the order, so no referral is needed.

  2. One 12-second scan.

Get a clear picture of your health with no injections, no fasting, and no claustrophobic tube.

  3. Reports delivered to you and your physician.

A board-certified radiologist reads every image. Results go to you and your physician in as little as 48 hours.

A screening CT is not a diagnostic exam. It can identify a growth but cannot establish whether it is malignant, and it is not a replacement for a mammogram or a colonoscopy. Your report describes your own anatomy.

Why here.

The national whole-body screening services list no Polk County location, so the exam usually means a drive to Tampa or Orlando. Smart Scan scans in Lakeland, on the Lakeland Highlands Road corridor just south of East Edgewood Drive: $798 flat for chest, abdomen, pelvis and heart in one visit, with the physician order and both reports included. No referral to chase, no second invoice.

Serving Lakeland, Winter Haven, Plant City, Bartow and Auburndale.

How to find it.

From the Polk Parkway (SR 570), take Exit 9 for Lakeland Highlands Road (CR 37B) and head north; the address is on Lakeland Highlands Road just short of the East Edgewood Drive intersection. Approaching from the east side of town, East Edgewood Drive runs west from US 98 (Bartow Road) to that same intersection, where you turn south onto Lakeland Highlands Road.

The same exam in Lakeland as everywhere else.

Affordability doesn’t have to mean compromise. No matter where you go, Smart Scan delivers only the highest quality service from scheduling to delivering your reports. Since 2017, we’ve helped thousands access affordable, high-quality screening across the state of Florida.

Every center in Florida

Asked in Lakeland.

Do I have to drive to Tampa or Orlando for this?

No. Polk County patients are scanned at a partner imaging center on Lakeland Highlands Road, so there is no drive to Tampa or Orlando. It is the same $798 exam, read by the same board-certified radiologists, as in every other Smart Scan market.

Where in Lakeland is the exam performed, and which areas does it serve?

At a partner imaging center at 2946 Lakeland Highlands Road, Lakeland FL 33803, on the CR 37B corridor just south of East Edgewood Drive. Patients come from Lakeland, Winter Haven, Plant City, Bartow and Auburndale. From the Polk Parkway, Exit 9 puts you on Lakeland Highlands Road heading north. Smart Scan does not own the center; exams run at partner imaging centers.

A local imaging provider charges $75 for a calcium score. Why would I pay $798?

Because they are not the same exam. That price is for a standalone coronary calcium score, which is the heart on its own, and it requires a referral from your primary care physician. Smart Scan's $798 covers chest, abdomen, pelvis and heart, the physician order, a board-certified radiologist's read of the whole body and the calcium score report. If a calcium score is all you want, the $75 exam is the cheaper way to get it.

I already had a calcium score done here in Polk County. Does that change anything?

A calcium score covers the heart alone; this exam covers chest, abdomen and pelvis as well as the heart, and repeats the calcium score in the same visit. Mention the earlier scan when you book, and raise it with your own physician.

Whole-body scans elsewhere cost thousands — why is this $798?

$798 is the whole price, not a starting point: no second invoice, and no add-on services to arrange afterward. Preventive screening of this kind is generally not covered by insurance, so the figure is published flat rather than quoted case by case. Affirm and CareCredit financing are available, and the fee is refunded in full if a Smart Scan physician declines to order the exam.

Will my own doctor accept the report?

In the ordinary case, yes: this is a screening exam ordered by a licensed physician and read by a board-certified radiologist on diagnostic imaging equipment, which is the form your doctor already works with. The report is sent to their office directly, so nothing depends on you handing it over. What they do next is their decision. Smart Scan does not provide medical consultation, and a CT can identify a growth without establishing whether it is malignant.
